Seltzer was down and bleeding into the bunded area. The boiler makers were on site, but they didn't know First-Aid. Their blowtorches were no good as long as Seltzer oozed painfully.

"Call an ambulance!"

Within minutes, the paramedic was on the scene. He carried a sense of urgency, not panic. Highly specialised, he wore a hard-hat and safety boots, and carried Perry's in his backpack.

As everyone else flapped about, the medic stepped up to the victim.

"Don't worry," he said, "I know Reactor Design."

Grasping firmly, he twisted the ball-valve shut on the inlet to the Seltzer agitator.
This is part of my 100 word gift series.
Michael is my good friend who buggered off to the UK.
He was also my best man.

100 word gift: what's that?
---------------------------
In Neil Gaiman's collection of short stories, "Smoke and Mirrors," there is a short story called "Nicholas was..."

It is 100 words long (102 including the title).

In the introduction to the book, Neil Gaiman explains the origin of each of the short stories. Neil wrote "Nicholas was..." as a Christmas card, had someone calligraph it, and sent it out to everyone he could think of.

In the same introduction, Neil discusses how he once intended to write a short story as a wedding gift for friends (although, longer than 100 words).

Inspired by the above, I have set out to write 100 word gift stories for my friends and family.
I then print them out on coloured paper, stick them in a frame, and present them to the beneficiary.
Originally, I thought they should all be Christmas presents -- but I changed my mind on that and just distribute them randomly. After all, why do we need a special occasion to give a gift?
